Dechoway Music is the resident home of several diversified musical ensembles and offer them in a variety of combinations ranging from Soloists to Big Bands. Don Echoles Conway is the founder of Dechoway Music.
Don attended Mississippi Valley State University, Manhattan School of Music and Fordham University. Don has studied with Bill Baron, Joe Allard, Yusef Lateef, Babatunde Olatunji, Mickey Tucker and Roland Alexander. He taught instrumental music for twenty-eight years in Mississippi, New Jersey and New York before becoming the Arts Coordinator of District 16 for the Department of Education in Brooklyn, New York. His students who have prominent careers in music include Kasif, Nasheets Waits, Eric McPherson, Regina Belle, Bernard Belle, Cindy Mizel, Beavin Lawrence and Kathy Rodriquez. After Forty years of service as an educator, Don finally retired and dedicated himself to this music called Jazz, leading several musical groups in New York as a full time musician. His playing experiences has taken him throughout the USA, Europe, India, Africa and Asia.
